Pinto Art Musuem: forgetting and remembering the whys of being in medschool

Medschool will always make you forget but it will also make you remember.

Seven months into medical school and I can still sense a feeling of unfamiliarity -- from realizing that there are a lot of information to learn even after undergraduate studies to learning the intricacies of the human body. It was motivating. However, somewhere in the middle, everything started to pile up - topics to study, laboratory duties to accomplish, papers to submit. It became all about medschool. Getting things done masked the true purpose of learning that I almost forgot the essence and application of what I am doing, even my whys of entering medschool. During this moment, I felt the need for breaks and pauses. I learned to appreciate the essence of taking some steps back and reflecting on what is happening around me.

This is why I am grateful when our college decided to send us to Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo, Rizal (somewhere far from Manila ❤). I was thankful because this time, I was not silently begging for a break; it was intentionally planned and provided by our college. It meant so much.

Here are some of my photos during our visit to Pinto Art Museum:

"nakakapagod magaral ng medisina," a med student once said, "pero sa di ko maipaliwanag na dahilan, alam kong masaya ako at wala akong pinagsisisihan.

The activity was sponsored by the UP College of Medicine. It was participated by UPCM 2024.
